The King Is Dead, Long Life The King

Cheltenham finished with another top day of racing with Denman dethroning the reigning champ Kauto Star in the most eagerly awaited race for years. It was so big an event that it even had it's own song, how many sporting events other than football can say that? It was an impressive display by Denman who threw down the gauntlet with a lap to go. The sticky ground seemed to be hampering Kauto's jumping and Denman increased his lead at every fence. After having a nice win in the previous race with Nunaphar Collenges, I thought that it might be a Collenge day so ended up putting a tricast on on the three Nicholls horses amongst other bets so it was nice to see all three of them take the first three places. It enabled me to break even for the week although I was slightly gutted in the Foxhunters when I thought I'd put an each way bet on Arctic Times at 40/1 only to find out that I must have missed ticking the e/w box when I checked the ticket after it came in third.

There was just the single winner for Stick A Pin In's selections with Celestial Halo(5/1) beating the well backed Franchoek. There were places for Chomba Womba, Kauto Star and Pyscho. Today's picks are:

1-50 Uttoxeter - Majaales
2-15 Newcastle - Riquez Dancer
2-20 Uttoxeter - The Real Deal
2-45 Newcastle - Blushing Hilary
2-55 Uttoxeter - Wind Instrument
3-20 Newcastle - Stagecoach Amber
3-30 Uttoxeter - Flintoff
3-55 Newcastle - Star Beat
4-05 Uttoxeter - Punchestowns
