Is Sea The Stars really worth 100 million at stud?
Sea The Stars is extremely fashionable at present, but will he be in three years? That is the question potential purchasers must ask themselves.
Curious though it may seem, the mega-million pound price tag placed around Sea The Stars' neck after he won the Derby in June may not have increased as much as some might believe. Despite four superb subsequent wins, including a memorable Arc victory, his value may have gone up by only 50 per cent.
Soon after he won at Epsom, it was generally agreed that Sea The Stars was worth around £40m. After that, each time he won, headline writers kept jacking up his price, so much so that one suggested he was worth £100m after the Arc.
